i know that everyone has criticized tumblr “activism” (i know i have) and how reblogging quotes and photos and links is really passive, but i will say that it really means a lot to me when someone i know in real life — someone who i’ve never really discussed my politics with, someone who really doesn’t know me that well beyond my hair color and/or whatever class or friend i share with them — reads my blog and tells me later that it has opened their eyes, or that they’ve started on a journey of loving themselves, or have achieved a better understanding of our country’s state of inequality, etc

every small impact is a worthwhile one, imo, even if at the time it seems really insignificant
